According to WTTC forecasts, tourism revenues in Canada will increase this year

According to the figures, Canada’s tourism sector will boom this year World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) predictions.

The latest data from the WTTC shows that Canada’s tourism sector will support 1.84 billion jobs in the country by the end of this year, about 120,000 more than in pre-Covid years.

Tourism’s contribution to Canada’s national economy is expected to reach a record high of nearly $182 billion this year; nearly $8.1 billion above the previous peak.

The economic contribution of tourism grew by 25% last year and expenditure by international tourists reached almost $44 billion.

Julia Simpson, president and CEO of WTTC, said: “Travel & Tourism is going to break all records in Canada. The government-backed Tourism Growth Program will further stimulate both the economy and jobs in the coming year with its $108 million in federal funding.

“The travel and tourism sector is very strong and creates economic value and jobs. Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal stand out as popular destinations among international visitors.”
