Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will again head the PML-N party in Pakistan

NSE U MAY 24

Nawaz Sharif, a three-time former prime minister of Pakistan, is expected to be re-elected as president of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party.

He lost the post six years ago after a Supreme Court ruling in the Panama Papers case.

According to The Dawn newspaper, the party’s General Council meeting will take place at a hotel in Lahore, where Nawaz Sharif, who returned to Pakistan in October 2023 after a four-year self-imposed exile in Britain, will be elected unopposed.

PML-N Punjab President Rana Sanaullah hinted at a press conference that Nawaz Sharif would be elected without an election.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had resigned as PML-N president earlier this month, paving the way for Nawaz Sharif’s takeover.
