Teacher arrested in Boston after years of sexual abuse of student; Abusive material found on various devices

A former Boston teacher was arrested on federal charges of possessing child sexual abuse photos obtained through an online contact with a 15-year-old.

40-year-old Quincy man Carter Peaseley was arrested Thursday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts said Tuesday. He is accused of possessing and receiving child pornography.

Peaseley is said to have been a teacher at both the John D. O’Bryant School of Mathematics and Science and the Match Charter School in Boston. Match has an elementary school in Hyde Park, a middle school in Jamaica Plain and a high school in Allston. O’Bryant is in Roxbury.

Investigators say Peaseley had an online relationship with the child for about a year. He allegedly said he planned to visit the victim.

“Peaseley allegedly told the child not to save his text messages and suggested he use a different app.” They also allegedly sent each other photos, some of which were sexually explicit photos of the child, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

According to court papers, searches of Peaseley’s phone and computer turned up nearly 250 photos of child sexual abuse.

Federal officials said Peaseley was released from jail after his arrest, but was subject to a curfew and GPS tracking. He also could not have any contact with children without an adult present.
