T20 World Cup: Teams, schedule, past winners, venues and prize money

The ninth edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will be jointly hosted by the USA and West Indies. The Cricket World Cup will be the first Cricket World Cup to be played on American soil. England are defending champions.

SCHEME

*The ninth edition of the 20-over showpiece will take place from 1 to 29 June.

* It starts with host nation United States taking on Canada

TEAMS and FORMAT

* 20 teams are participating in the tournament, divided into four groups.

*Group A – India, Pakistan, Canada, Ireland, United States (hosts)

* Group B – England, Australia, Namibia, Scotland, Oman.

*Group C – New Zealand, West Indies (hosts), Afghanistan, Papua New Guinea, Uganda

*Group D – South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Netherlands, Nepal.

*Teams in each group face each other once in a round robin format. A win is worth two points and a draw or no result is worth one point each.

*The top two teams from each group advance to the Super 8s, where they are divided into two groups of four each, and play against each other in a round robin format.

*The top two teams from each Super 8s group will advance to the semi-finals.

Locations

*Matches will be held in nine stadiums, six in the West Indies and three in the United States.

* Stadiums in the West Indies: Sir Vivian Richards Stadium (Antigua and Barbuda), Kensington Oval (Barbados), Providence Stadium (Guyana), Daren Sammy Cricket Ground (St Lucia), Arnos Vale Stadium (St. Vincent and the Grenadines) and Brian Lara Cricket Academy (Trinidad and Tobago).

* Stadiums in the United States: Central Broward Park (Florida), Nassau County International Cricket Stadium (New York), Grand Prairie Stadium (Texas).

* The Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, with a capacity of 28,000, will host the final.
