USMEF: US Pork Experiences Export Growth; update on their Spring Conference

The U.S. pork industry is experiencing export growth, especially to Mexico, Korea, Central America and Colombia.

The U.S. Meat Export Federation says pork exports rose 6 percent in both volume and value in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period a year ago. “We have, I think, some optimism on several fronts in the pork industry, but without a doubt, the international side is certainly one of those positives,” said USMEF President Dan Halstrom.

Meanwhile, beef export volumes fell slightly, while the value of beef exports increased by 9 percent.

The U.S. Meat Export Federation just wrapped up its spring conference focused on challenges and opportunities for expanding access to the global market for U.S. meat.

Courtney Knupp of the National Pork Board was in attendance and joined RFD-TV’s Tammi Arender for a recap of the event, the partnership between U.S. pork and USMEF, and whether there has been any market immersion involving U.S. pork partnering with USMEF.
