Ugandan boxer Simbwa wins way to Olympic slot – 93.3 KFM

By Abdul-Nasser Ssemugabi

Ugandan boxer Regarn Simbwa, based in Australia, has defeated Hungary’s Koppany Feher (5-0) by unanimous decision to advance to the round of 16 of the 2nd World Olympic Qualifiers in Bangkok, Thailand.

Tomorrow, Simbwa will face American Jamar Talley, who defeated Haiti’s Leclerc Nogaus 5-0.

Simbwa needs two more victories to get the coveted ticket for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

This is Uganda’s first win in Bangkok after 2017 African welterweight champion Muzamir Kakande and 2020 Tokyo Olympian Musa Shadir Bwogi lost last week.

Uganda is yet to qualify a single boxer for Paris 2024.
