Hinds calls for revival of National Sports Council | RJR News

There is a call for the revival of the National Sports Council in a bid to channel the country’s full potential in sports in the wake of the country not being one of the six countries set to host next month of the ICC T20 World Cup.

Opposition spokesperson on sport Wavell Hinds says body inactivity continues to haunt the profitability of the sports sector.

Hinds, a former international cricketer, wonders what has been done to ease the struggle for local sports administrators.

The National Sports Council was established in 1992 in recognition of the multidisciplinary nature of sport in society and also to assist in the development and full use of sport island-wide to realize its various benefits. The municipality has stood still for the past eight years.
