‘Bad Guy’ behind the failed Fyre Festival scores viral KO at Karate Combat

The ‘good man’ doesn’t always win in the end.

He painted a villain for planning β€œthe biggest party that never happened,” as Netflix calls it in their popular documentary. Many were hoping that Fyre Festival creator Billy McFarland would be knocked out this week in his first-ever sanctioned fight. Unfortunately for them, McFarland let them down (as did the hundreds of people who attended his fraudulent music festival in 2017) when he scored a knockout victory at Karate Combat 46.

McFarland’s Fyre Festival got off to a smooth start with scheduled dates in the Bahamas, accompanied by live music performances from top artists and promoted by your favorite stars. Ironically, former UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic was among those paid to post an orange square on his social media, a viral strategy to create buzz around Fyre Fest.

The luxury and finesse behind Fyre Fest was nowhere to be seen by the hundreds of people who flew to Exuma, Bahamas for the luxury experience of a lifetime, nor by the thousands of others who paid a price not to. make the trip in the first place.

Years after the event’s disastrous turnout (or lack thereof), settlements paid to attendees involved, and time served in federal prison (he pleaded guilty to wire fraud in 2018), McFarland is now out and kicking he is an influencer in Karate fighting.

That’s right, 32-year-old McFarland challenged Justin Custardo, a crypto influencer who wanted revenge on the people who were scammed by McFarland and his associates through Fyre Fest. Instead, Custardo ended up taking a cowardly right hand that sent him to the canvas with nothing left to give.

β€œThe bad guy won!” said former UFC champion Georges St-Pierre on commentary.

Top podcaster and UFC commentator Joe Rogan also reacted with surprise on Thursday to McFarland’s KO stoppage from the pitside in his backyard of Austin, Texas. Billy McFarland may be considered a fraud for Fyre Festival, but let the facts show that the sketchy businessman can still fight.

After the win, who knows what we’ll get from McFarland, another fight at Karate Combat or a sequel to the failed Fyre Festival.
