Changes to metro and train services: May 31 – June 3

This weekend marks the start of a new month, and what a month of June is: we celebrate Pride, Juneteenth, the summer solstice, the T20 Cricket World Cup, the Coney Island Mermaid Parade, the Puerto Rican Day Parade and more. (This writer is especially excited about National Hug Your Cat Day on June 4.)

A note for our 14 St riders: The passage between the and ​stations are closed this weekend. Free street transfer outside the station is available with OMNY or MetroCard.

Here’s what else is happening this weekend (also available as a handy map):

  • There are no trains between Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College.
  • there are no trains between Chambers St and New Lots Av.
  • there are no trains between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.
  • There are no trains between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Crescent St.

Major changes to metro service

trains, Brooklyn

There will be no trains running between Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College in either direction from 11:30 PM Friday to 5 AM Monday due to track maintenance.

  • For service between Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College, you can take the free B96 shuttle buses, which all stops and an additional stop at Nostrand Av .
  • Trains run between the Bronx and Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and on the to Crown Heights-Utica Av.

trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

There will be no trains running between Chambers St and New Lots Av in either direction all day on Saturday and Sunday due to track maintenance.

  • For service between Chambers St and Nevins St, take the .
  • For service between Nevins St and Crown Heights-Utica Av trains.
    • The whole weekend, Trains run on the to Crown Heights-Utica Av and trains make local stops between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Crown Heights-Utica Av.
  • For connections between Crown Heights-Utica Av and New Lots Av, take the which runs all weekend to New Lots Av.
  • Trains run between Harlem-148 St and Chambers St and on the to Rector St.

trains, Brooklyn

There will be no trains running between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av in either direction from 12:15 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday due to signal modernization work.

  • For connections between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av, take the free B90 shuttle buses, which all run stops.
    • When you exit the subway at Church Av or Coney Island-Stillwell Av, request a GO ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  • For a direct connection between Manhattan/Downtown Brooklyn and Coney Island, take trains.
  • For service to W 8 St-NY Aquarium, take the ​.
  • trains run between Jamaica-179 St and Church Av.

trains, Brooklyn and Queens

There will be no trains running between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Crescent St in either direction from 11:45pm Friday to 5am Monday due to track replacement.

  • For services between 121 St and Crescent St, free J90 shuttle buses operate between Jamaica Van-Wyck and Crescent St, making everything stops between 121 St and Crescent St.
    • When you exit the subway at Jamaica-Van Wyck or Crescent St, request a GO ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  • For flights to/from Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport, take the .
  • Trains run between Crescent St and Broad St.

trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

There will be no trains running between 8 Av and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs in either direction from 11:15 PM on Friday until 5 AM on Monday due to work to improve accessibility.

  • For service in Manhattan, you can take the free L92 shuttle buses or the M14A-SBS, all of which are available stops between 8 Av and 1 Av and connects to trains at Delancey St-Essex St.
  • For services between Bedford Av and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs, you can take free shuttle buses, which operate on two routes:
    • Between Lorimer St and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs make everything stops.
    • A loop bus that stops at Lorimer St, Bedford Av, Marcy Av Hewe St and Broadway .
  • When exiting the subway stations in Manhattan or at Lorimer St, Marcy Av, Broadway or Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs request a GO ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  • For service between Manhattan and Brooklyn, take trains.
  • Trains run between Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs and Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy at all times, every 8 minutes during the day and evening.

trains are extended to 96 St on the from 8am to 11:59pm on Saturdays and from 8am to 9pm on Sundays for extra service between 14 St/6 Av and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs .

  • Trains run from Middle Village-Metropolitan Av to 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr, on the to Lexington Av/63 St, and on the to 96 St

trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

Queens-bound and late at night Trains run on the from DeKalb Av to Canal St from 11:45 PM Friday to 5:00 AM Monday due to structural improvement work.

  • For service to/from Jay St-MetroTech and Court St, use nearby Borough Hall .
  • For service to/from stations between Whitehall St and City Hall use ‘nearby’ stations.

Late at night no trains run between Whitehall St and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr in either direction and make express stops between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and 36 St in either direction. This is due to structural improvement work.

  • This service change is in effect from Friday 11:45 PM to Saturday 5:45 AM, Saturday 11:30 PM to Sunday 5:45 AM and Sunday 11:30 PM to Monday 5:00 AM.
  • For services to/from Whitehall St, Court St and Jay St-MetroTech, take the Coney Island line train or use nearby stations.
  • For service to/from DeKalb Av, take trains.
  • For service to/from local stations between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and 36 St, take trains.
  • Trains run between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Bay Ridge-95 St.

Other changes to subway service

trains, Manhattan

Uptown and local trains will make express stops between Chambers St and 34 St-Penn Station from 9:45pm Friday to 5am Monday for structural maintenance.

  • For transportation to/from bypassed stations, take a local train in the center.

Centre trains will not stop between 145 St and 96 St from 9:45pm Friday to 5am Monday due to track maintenance.

  • For transportation to/from bypassed stations, take a train uptown.

Centre And local trains do not stop between 96 St and 72 St from 9:45am Friday to 5am Monday due to structural maintenance.

  • For transportation to/from bypassed stations, take a local train to the upper city.
  • During the day and evening, trains run every 8 minutes and trains run every 12 minutes trains share tracks in Manhattan.

trains, the Bronx

Manhattan-bound trains do not stop between E 180 St and 3 Av-149 St from Saturday 3:45 AM to Sunday 10 PM due to structural maintenance.

  • For connections to/from bypassed stations, take line 241 St-bound or Dyre Av-bound train.

trains, Manhattan

Uptown And local trains will make quick stops from Grand Central-42 St to 125 St from Friday 9:45 PM to Monday 5 AM for structural maintenance.

  • For transportation to/from bypassed stations, take a local train in the center.
  • During the day and evening, trains run every 20 minutes and trains run every 8 minutes trains share tracks in Manhattan.

trains, the Bronx

Pelham Bay Park-bound trains will not stop between Hunts Point Av and Parkchester from 3.45am Saturday to 10pm Sunday due to track replacement.

  • For transportation to/from bypassed stations, take a train to Manhattan.
  • During the day and evening, Trains run every 16 minutes in the Bronx. The last stop for alternative trains to Bronx is 3 Av-138 St. Transfer to a train to Pelham Bay Park to continue your journey.

trains, Manhattan

From Friday 9:45 PM to Monday 5:00 AM, center and local Trains run on the express track from 59 St-Columbus Circle to Canal St and the city center Trains are running on the express track from 42 St/Port Authority Bus Terminal to Canal St. This is due to electrical improvement work.

  • For transportation to/from bypassed stations, take a train uptown.

trains, the Bronx and Manhattan

Uptown trains will make quick stops from 145 St and Fordham Rd from 9:45pm Friday to 5am Monday for structural maintenance.

  • For transportation to/from bypassed stations, take the train in the center.

trains, queens

From Friday 11:45 PM to Monday 5:00 AM, towards Manhattan and local no trains stop between Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av and Queens Plaza and Manhattan-bound local no trains stop between Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av and 21 St-Queensbridge. This is due to track maintenance.

  • For connections to/from bypass stations, head towards Forest Hills or locally to Jamaica train.

Long Island Railroad

All branches

Most LIRR trains will run on a modified schedule from 9:30 PM Friday to 4:00 AM Monday due to the installation of switches.

  • Ronkonkoma Branch trains run hourly and during the day Ronkonkoma Branch trains run to Penn Station.
    • Transfer in Jamaica for service to Grand Central.
  • The eastbound Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma Branch trains do not stop at the Elmont-UBS Arena.
    • For connections to/from this station, take the Hempstead Branch train.
  • The Ronkonkoma Branch trains will stop at Westbury during the day on Saturday for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup participants.
  • Check TrainTime or Schedules to plan your trip.

Changes to the Metro-North Railway service

Port Jervis Line

There are no trains running between Suffern and Port Jervis from 12:45 AM on Saturday until 11:59 PM on Sunday due to track works and bridge maintenance.

  • Buses connect Ramsey-Route 17 station to all stops between Sloatsburg and Port Jervis.
  • For connections to Hoboken and New York from Otisville and Salisbury Mills, consider using the nearby Middletown or Harriman stations instead.
    • Only local bus service is available in Otisville and Salisbury Mills, which does not connect to the Ramsey-Route 17 trains.
  • Trains run between Hoboken and Suffern according to an adjusted schedule, without express trains.
