Tensions run high as recession-weary Argentines march to the president’s residence

Tensions were high on the streets of Argentina on Tuesday when riot police were deployed against a protest march to the president’s residence, Olivos.

Protesters from trade unions and other social movements were confronted by the police. A tire barricade was set on fire and a water cannon vehicle stood by alongside the demonstrators.
