Bar operator charged for alleged possession of illegal firearm and ammunition

ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica – A bar owner from St. Elizabeth’s Goshen District has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition following a targeted raid on his home on Saturday, May 4.

He has been identified as 38-year-old Dwayne Barrett.

According to police reports, a police team carried out a targeted raid on Barrett’s home at around 6.20pm and searched his premises.

During the search, a Glock 40 pistol containing a nine-round magazine was found in a concrete block, police said.

Barrett was subsequently arrested and charged. His court hearing is wrapping up.
