St Lucia Kings sign Heinrich Klaasen for CPL 2024; Faf du Plessis retained for new season

Caribbean Premier League (CPL) St Lucia Kings today officially announced the list of retained and newly signed players ahead of the CPL 2024 Player Draft, scheduled for July 2024. South African batsman Heinrich Klaasen is the highlight from the list .

St Lucia Kings sign Heinrich Klaasen, retain Faf du Plessis

St Lucia Kings, owned by IPL franchise Punjab Kings, today unveiled their retention list as well as a number of new additions to the squad. Faf du Plessis is back with the team after missing last season due to injury.

Colin Munro, who was signed as Faf du Plessis’s replacement for the CPL 2023 season, has been released ahead of the new season and Faf du Plessis, the former South African skipper and captain of the RCB in IPL, has been retained.

The signing of South African wicketkeeper-batsman Heinrich Klaasen headlines their announcement. Klaasen was in scandalous form during the IPL 2024 and led his team Sunrisers Hyderabad to the final, which they unfortunately lost one-sidedly to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

The Kings have also announced the signing of Afghan left-arm spinner Noor Ahmed and Namibia’s David Wiese. Bhanuka Rajapaksa has also been retained ahead of the new season, while Zimbabwean duo Sikandar Raza and Sean Willams have been released.

They also retained their domestic core in the form of Johnson Charles, Alzarri Joseph, Roston Chase, Matthew Ford and Khary Pierre. Shadrack Descarte and McKenny Clarke are other players who have been retained.

St Lucia Kings reached the play-offs in the 2023 season of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). They lost to Jamaica Tallawahs in the eliminator.
