Guyana Police arrest 40-year-old for possession of 2050 grams of marijuana

Georgetown, Guyana: The Guyana Police Force conducted an intelligence operation near the Demerara Harbor Bridge which resulted in the discovery of 2050 grams of marijuana. Officials arrested a 40-year-old driver Friday in connection with those findings.

According to the details, the officers led by an Assistant Superintendent found a silver-gray Toyota Premio car with registration number #PNN 7493 traveling eastbound. Authorities stopped the vehicle and asked the driver if he had anything illegal in his car.

The driver responded to the authority’s question and stated that he had some marijuana with him. The officers then searched the car and found a black plastic bag containing various illegal items. Illegal items in the bag include two packets of leaves, seeds and stems, suspected to be cannabis.

The driver was later informed of the offense he had committed and arrested for possession of narcotics for the purpose of human trafficking. After his arrest, authorities took the 40-year-old driver and the suspicious items to the Providence Police Department.

Following his arrest, residents of the community took to their social media accounts and expressed their views and opinions through their comments. One person commented: “When will these people understand that it is harmful to use drugs. It’s really great on behalf of the official. They must continue to conduct such operations to reduce criminal activities.”

Another person wrote: “Really proud of the work Guyana authorities are doing. Possession of drugs is becoming a serious problem and I really don’t know what that person should do with it.”

The citizens of Guyana have called on the authorities to take strict measures to curb drug use. They have expressed concern for the country’s youth and have asked the government to organize such workshops with the aim of making Guyana a drug-free nation.

The government has also promised to implement strict plans and policies to protect their citizens from these types of activities.
