The In love again AThe actress, 41, spent the day at the beach this weekend with her two-year-old daughter Malti, and in between clips I saw something that made my Sunday fears retreat. She was wearing a genius summer uniform that I really needed to take notes for my next pool, beach, or lake day because this will soon be my new blueprint.

Chopra Jonas wore a white one-piece swimsuit with a higher neckline that looked safe enough to run after a toddler if necessary. On top of that, she added a sheer black cover-up that looked very stylish and still showed off her swimsuit. Finally, she covered her face with a wide-brimmed white sun hat with a black ribbon trim.

I’ve always been a proponent of one-piece swimsuits: they hold you in a way that a two-piece swimsuit can’t, and worrying about a wave causing your top to move is a lower priority when it’s up to you pants are stuck. And a cover-up like hers is good to have for those post-pool moments like walking back to your hotel room or grabbing a bite to eat.

I’ve always strayed from white swimsuits for obvious reasons, but the ruffles, frills, and sheer number of high ratings on this one lured me in. I was further convinced by this review: “I’m a bride of 2024 and ordered several white swimsuits, and this is the one I’m keeping.

I also think that the crossed back of The Tulum One-Piece would provide some cool tan lines, while also helping to provide support to the chest (a double whammy!). It is also a brand that Mindy Kaling has now collaborated with twice.

Avidlove sheer swimsuit cover-up

Even though I love sitting in the sun, the last thing I want to do is start ‘Burnin’ Up’. So sometimes I reach for a cover-up that’s still light enough to wear at the pool or beach, but offers a little more sun protection. This Avidlove version is sheer, just like Chopra Jonas’, and looks easy to put on when you have to go to the bathroom. But for something even thicker I would choose linen, which is light for summer days.

My cheeks are usually the first to turn pink, so I always like to have a hat with me. I’ve found that baseball hats suit me well, but this year I want something with more “rich mom” vibes, even though I’m not a mom myself. This wide-brimmed hat is black and white, so like Chopra Jonas’s, it would pair perfectly with a white swimsuit and a black cover-up. It’s only $20 too.
