Limerick will receive almost 400 new citizens during the awards ceremony

LIMERICK has gained 370 new citizens in the past week, out of a total of more than 4,800 people who have been granted Irish citizenship.

At the ceremony in County Kerry, people from more than 138 countries received their Irish citizenship.

Justice Minister Helen McEntee said that “citizenship ceremonies are a wonderful celebration.

“I would like to congratulate everyone who has chosen to become citizens of this nation and thank them for their important contributions to our culture, economy and society.”

The new citizens were presented with the Declaration of Allegiance to the Irish Nation and Loyalty to the State by retired Judge Mary Irvine and Judge Paddy McMahon.

The highest number of new citizens came from India with 995, followed by the United Kingdom (416) and Brazil (294).
