Multinational introduces new strawberry varieties in Peru

Ekland Marketing Company (Emco CAL) has introduced new strawberry varieties in Peru. Peruvian growers have adopted the Strawberry Sensation from this multinational, which has an active research and development department to adapt to farmers’ preferences and provide high quality standards to consumers.

The company collaborated with the PeruFrut nursery to produce the first batch of strawberry seedlings of the Sensation variety. The plants have been propagated using a new reproductive system, so that the shoots never touch the ground. This method guarantees maximum quality and plant health.

This approach offers opportunities for Peruvian producers, who lose millions of plants every year due to poor health of the plant material. It will also meet the demand for plants from farmers in this Ibero-American country, a major producer of red fruits.

The Peruvian strawberry industry will now have access to varieties from the University of Florida, represented by Emco CAL, both from abroad and domestically. Ekland Marketing Company, Inc. (EMCO CAL) is active in 70 countries.
