The 52nd Bahamas National Swimming Championships kicked off Thursday, with the five-day competition representing an Olympic qualifying opportunity.

The selection window ends on Sunday, June 23, which means Russia’s Julia Efimovawho has been cleared to compete as a neutral athlete in Paris is using this competition as a final qualifier.

While the 32-year-old Olympic medalist’s main event, the 100-meter breaststroke, doesn’t take place until Sunday, Efimova warmed up with both the 200-meter breast and the 50-meter breast.

In the 200 meters, Efimova stopped the clock with a time of 2:29.09, while in the 50 meters in the preliminaries she achieved a result of 31.47.

For her main event, she will target the World Aquatics Olympic Qualification Time of 1:06.79, a threshold she has been below numerous times.

Efimova’s best time in the 100m breast is the 1:04.36 she produced at the 2017 World Championships, while her most recent time is the 1:06.02 she produced en route to a 5th-place finish at the 2020 Olympics.
