New homologation process for assembled vehicles begins in Cuba

Havana, June 24 (RHC) The authorities of the Ministry of Transport (MITRANS) of Cuba begin today a new process of homologation of vehicles assembled in parts, aimed at natural persons who for certain reasons did not do so at the time .

According to information published by the Granma newspaper, the above came about with the publication in the Government Gazette in the regular edition number 55 of Resolution 95 of 2024 of the MITRANS, which establishes the procedure for the approval of vehicles, motor vehicles, trailers and semi -cars. trailers, composed of parts and pieces.

The Minister of Transport, Eduardo Rodríguez, indicated on Facebook that there is progress in the legalization of vehicles that will contribute to the transportation of people at a time when it is so needed.

For his part, the head of the homologation project, Mario Pérez, explained during a recent press conference that the regulations are a new opening for this process in the offices of the National Vehicle Registration and Driving License Department of the Ministry of the Interior. .

The process initially involves an automatic and digital count via the platform www.vap.transnet.cu, which will be valid for 60 days from today. The platform will then only be available for file consultation by users.

What is new is that the natural person, who is not in the country at the time of the census or has any obstacle to being physically present at any stage of the process, can appoint a legal representative for these purposes.

Pérez noted that the presentation in the Census of a motor vehicle with a trailer or semi-trailer is permitted.

On the other hand, the General Director of the Automobile Transport Directorate of the Ministry of Transport, Osvaldo Reyes, clarified that this call may present vehicles declared unfit due to solvable technical aspects, as well as vehicles that were not accepted in the first homologation process, as long as the technical aspects were resolved in both cases.

He also reported on the creation of points, in collaboration with the municipal headquarters of the Young Computer and Electronics Club, to provide advice on registering vehicles on the portal. (Source: PL)
