Mexico vs. Venezuela Copa America 2024 time, live stream, TV channel, Group B lineups

Mexico are dealing with significant injury headaches ahead of the 2024 Copa America match against Venezuela, with captain and starting midfielder Edson Alvarez sidelined with a hamstring injury.

El Tri coach Jaime Lozano will have to deputize for the West Ham star for the Group B match in front of what is expected to be a packed crowd at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California on Wednesday, June 26.

Mexican veterans like Orbelin Pineda, Uriel Antuna and Luis Chavez will be relied on even more in Alvarez’s absence, while his likely replacement, Luis Romo, will have to fill a number of important roles against a Venezuelan team brimming with confidence.

Both Mexico and Venezuela enter matchday two with three points, but Venezuela got theirs in dramatic fashion as they came back from a goal down against Ecuador to win 2-1. Both of coach Fernando Batista’s half-time substitutions paid off as Jhonder Cadiz and Eduard Bello got the goals to complete the turnaround. After a strong start in World Cup qualifying, Venezuela thinks it can make a deep run in this Copa America.

Mexico vs. Venezuela lineups & team news

Following the loss of Alvarez, coach Jaime Lozano will have to make at least one change to his lineup before facing Venezuela. Luis Romo came off the bench to replace Alvarez and he is the most likely to take Alvarez’s place in the lineup as he currently plays as a midfielder for his club Monterrey. But Carlos Rodríguez And Erick Sanchez are also options, just like moving Johan Vasquez in holding the midfield and deploying another central defender, such as Jesus Orozco.

The wingers are also interchangeable, and in the meantime you can see Lozano getting back to work Julian Quinonen And Uriel Antunait is certainly possible to see Alexis Vega or Marcelo Flores deserve the start.

Mexico predicted: (4-3-3, from right to left): González — Sanchez, Montes, Vasquez, Arteaga — Romo, Chavez, Pineda — Antuna, Gimenez, Quinones.

Injured: Edson Alvarez.
Suspended: No

Venezuela coach Fernando Batista got a great response from his team after being down a goal at half-time despite being a man ahead. Eduard Bello, who came in at half-time and scored the winning goal, could be in line to start against Mexico. Bello should know many of the opponents well – he plays his club football for Mazatlan.

Otherwise, Venezuela had no injuries or suspensions in the first match, so we shouldn’t expect too much change between the first match and the next match.

Venezuela predicted (4-3-3, from right to left): Romo — Gonzalez, Ferraresi, Osorio, Navarro — Bello, Herrera, Martinez — Machis, Rondon, Soteldo.

Injured: No
Suspended: No
