Border Patrol and local law enforcement respond to 120 Haitian refugees in Key West

Earlier today, US Border Patrol agents and local law enforcement responded to an influx of illegal immigrants landing in Key West. According to Samuel Briggs II, Acting Chief of the U.S. Border PatrolPolice responded to the landing of migrants around 4 a.m. The group traveled in a large sailing freighter with more than 120 people on board.

Monroe County Sheriff’s Office showed dozens of people sitting on the side of the road.

Briggs said first responders were evaluating people at the scene. The migrants, who range in age from children to older adults, are now in Border Patrol custody where they will be processed for removal procedures. Earlier this month, 11 illegal aliens in exile from Cuba were met by law enforcement officers Higgs Beachwhich is also located in Key West.
