Who’s playing today in Copa América 2024? June 29: fixtures, times, TV, schedule

Having already secured a place in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Copa América, Argentina is looking for first place in the final round of Group A matches today. Meanwhile, Canada, Chile and Peru will all battle for the other spot in the knockout stages of the section.

Argentina vs Peru – 8:00 PM ET/5:00 PM PT, Miami

After securing their ticket to the last eight with wins over Canada and Chile, Argentina will certainly win the group as long as they avoid defeat against Peru.

Depending on the outcome of the other match of the day in Group A, the Albiceleste – who have received positive news about the injury suffered by captain Lionel Messi against Chile – can also come in first place with a loss against the Peruvians. Trailing Argentina by three points, second-placed Canada can only top the group if it beats Chile by a margin of victory, overcoming the Argentinians’ +4 goal difference.

Winners of their third World Cup in 2022, Argentina is chasing a 16th Copa America title – but only their second since 1993.

Peru, who have collected just one point from their first two matches of the 2024 Copa América, Argentina must be defeated to have a chance of qualifying for the quarter-finalsIt is a bad sign for the two-time tournament winners that they have not beaten the Argentinians since 1997.

Currently bottom of Group A, Peru will secure a top two spot if they win and beat Canada and Chile to drawJorge Fossati’s men can also qualify if they and Chile both win, but they must improve on the Chileans’ result to relegate La Roja to third place on the tiebreakers.

Canada vs. Chile – 8:00 PM ET/5:00 PM PT, Orlando

Canada are making their first appearance in the Copa América and go into the final round of Group A matches in second place after recovering from a defeat to Argentina with a 1-0 win over Peru. The Canucks will certainly reach the quarterfinals if they beat Chile today. A draw is also good for Jesse Marsch’s team, as long as the Peruvians do not beat Argentina.

As mentioned above, Canada can still win the group, but it has to overcoming a three-point deficit to Argentina and reversing the leaders’ goal difference advantage.

Two consecutive winners of the Copa América in 2015 and 2016, Chile are third in Group A with just one point – and only a win will do Ricardo Gareca’s team today. The Chileans will certainly go through if they win and Peru doesn’t. If Chile and Peru both win today, qualification for the last eight will depend on tiebreakers.

Canada and Chile have never met in a competitive game. Their last friendly match was in October 1995, when the Chileans won 2-0 in Concepción.
