Isla Del Cocodrilo From Twisted Heads To Market

Have you ever noticed that the island of Cuba looks a bit like a crocodile? That’s how it got its nickname island of cocodriloand this inspired Warped to play on the theme with a new cigar that was just hitting cigar shops.

Isla del Cocodrilo, which translates to “island of the crocodile,” of course doesn’t contain any Cuban tobacco, but instead features an Ecuadorian wrapper, two wrappers (one Ecuador Habano 2000, the other Brazilian Arapiraca), and Nicaraguan filling. Warped owner Kyle Gellis says the Ecuador Habano wrapper has been thrown up in the fired method, something that is done by many tobacco companies, where the flower of the tobacco plant is removed in the field. This is also called ‘topping’. This is done so that the plant sends its energy back to the leaf, instead of creating a new flower, resulting in stronger tobacco.

Isla del Cocodrilo is made in the Dominican Republic at the Tabacalera La Isla factory. It is available in two sizes: 5 5/8-inch by 46 ring gauge Corona Gorda and a 6-by-52 Toro. They retail for $13 and $14 respectively and come packaged in boxes of 15.
