Caricom Summit postponed due to Hurricane Beryl

Leaders of the Caribbean Community (Caricom) have postponed their annual summit, originally scheduled for July 3-5 in Grenada, in response to the threat posed by Hurricane Beryl.

The new dates for the summit will be announced later as the region prepares for the impact of the hurricane.

The escalation of Hurricane Beryl calls for caution in the region

Hurricane Beryl, which strengthened to a Category 4 storm overnight, is expected to hit several Caribbean countries.

The route is expected to pass through southern Barbados, then through St. Vincent and the Grenadines and finally near Haiti, Jamaica and Belize by the end of the week.

This escalation has led to pre-emptive changes to airline schedules, suggesting widespread disruptions due to the severe weather forecast.
