Venezuelan fashion giant Carolina Herrera will be honored at the 37th annual Hispanic Heritage Awards

Carolina Herrera announced this on her official Instagram account she will be among the fashion nominees at the 37th annual Hispanic Heritage Awards. The event will take place at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts’ Opera House in September 2024 and, as usual, coincides with Hispanic Heritage Month. Other honorees, performers, presenters and presenters will be named at a later date.

“The Hispanic Heritage Foundation is thrilled to honor the transcendent Carolina Herrera, a true global icon who represented our community with such tremendous vision, determination and grace throughout her historic career,” said Antonio Tijerino, president and CEO of HHF . “We look forward to paying tribute to Carolina and all the winners through their achievements, cultural pride and our great promise to this country and the world.”

The Hispanic Heritage Awards were established by the White House in 1988, supported by 40 national Hispanic-serving institutions.

The list of past honorees features a who’s who of Latino talent from across generations, including Rita Moreno, Sonia Sotomayor, Plácido Domingo, Celia Cruz, Bad Bunny, Tito Puente, Gloria Estefan, Oscar Hijuelos, Ricky Martin, Fania All-Stars, Junot Diaz, José Feliciano, Isabel Allende, Jose Andres, Carlos Vives, Alejandro Sanz, Juanes, Antonio Banderas, Juan Luis Guerra, Anthony Quinn, J Balvin, Zoe Saldana, Juan Marichal and many more.

Carolina Herrera was born in 1939 in Caracas, Venezuela. Over the years, she has become one of the most iconic fashion designers in the world, known for her luxury brand and accessories. She started her career in fashion by launching her own clothing line in 1980. Since then, she has dressed many celebrities and is recognized worldwide for her elegant and sophisticated style. Additionally, she expanded her brand to include perfumes and men’s clothing.

Throughout her career, she has won numerous awards, including a Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award and the Founder’s Award in Honor of Eleanor Lambert from the Council of Fashion Designers of America; the Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion; the Style Awards Designer of the Year; the Fashion Group International Superstar Award; Queen Sofia Spanish Institute Golden Meal; Gold Medal of Fine Arts from King Juan Carlos I and CFDA Award for Womenswear Designer of the Year.
