During floods in Brazil, a horse was found stranded on a roof. He was trapped for days and was later rescued

Rescuers have rescued a horse stranded on a roof in southern Brazil for days amid severe flooding, with the death toll now at 107.

The animal, affectionately known as “Caramelo” on social media, balanced precariously on two narrow strips of slippery asbestos in Canoas, a town in the hard-hit Porto Alegre metropolitan area. Much of the state remains cut off by flooding.

Rescuers managed to maneuver the horse onto a Zodiac inflatable boat on Thursday, providing a rare beacon of hope. With 136 people still missing and more than 165,000 displaced from flooded homes, rescue efforts with boats and helicopters continue amid the devastation.
