India will play semi-finals in Guyana if they reach the last four stage

New Delhi: India will play the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup in Guyana on June 27 as the cricketing giants reach the last four legs of the competition.

Under the ICC playing conditions for the showpiece event in the US and the Caribbean, only a reserve day will be kept for the final in Barbados on June 29.

“If India qualify for the semi-finals, they will play in the second semi-final scheduled for June 27, 2024 in Guyana,” the playing conditions stated.

The scheduling decision was made considering the timing of the semi-finals in Trinidad and Guyana.

The first semi-final in Trinidad on June 26 is a nighttime affair, while the knockout match in Guyana is a day match, more suited to Indian TV audiences. The second semi-final will start at 8:30 PM IST and will have an extra time of 250 minutes if the match is affected by weather conditions. The extra time for the first semi-final will be applied in two days.

“The Final on June 29 has a spare day on June 30. Extra time will be added to the semi-finals to complete the match, which will last a total of 250 minutes.

“For the first semi-final on June 26, 60 minutes will be available at the end of the matchday and the remaining 190 minutes are scheduled for 2 p.m. on June 27.

“While the additional 250 minutes for the second semi-final, scheduled for June 27, will be utilized if necessary through extended playing hours on the scheduled day,” the playing conditions stated.

India will be aiming to win an elusive ICC trophy and they will start their campaign against Ireland in New York on June 5 before taking on arch-rivals Pakistan at the same venue on June 9.
