St Kitts & Nevis establishes diplomatic relations with Cabo Verde

Saint Kitts and Nevis and Cabo Verde have signed a Joint Communiqué to establish diplomatic relations between the two island nations.

Ambassador of Saint Kitts and Nevis to the United Nations, Agatha Williams, and her Cabo Verdean counterpart Tania Serafim Romualo signed the agreement on May 10 in New York.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said both diplomats expressed the desire of their respective Governments to deepen ties and to collaborate in various international forums on issues of mutual interest, based upon shared values.

The ministry noted St Kitts and Nevis and Cabo Verde, which is a chain of 10 volcanic islands located in West Africa, share many of the same challenges.

Both diplomats expressed their opinion eagerness to engage and collaborate further to find solutions to those mutual challenges at the upcoming Fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) in Antigua and Barbuda.
