Brazil named host of the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup

Brazil has been confirmed as the host of FIFA Women’s 2027 World cup after beating a joint bid of belgium, the NNetherlands and GGermany.

Brazil, which previously hosted the Men’s World Cup in 1950 and 2014, became the first country to win the rights through an open vote after its 211 member associations voted in favor by 119 to 78 at the 74th FIFA Congress in Bangkok on Friday .

It will be the first time that a Women’s World Cup will be hosted by a South American country.

Both bids met the criteria for hosting, but Brazil scored higher on technical aspects such as stadiums, accommodation, fan zones and transport.

“Congratulations to Brazil,” said FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

“We will experience the best World Cup in Brazil. Many thanks also to the offer from BNG, which was fantastic.”

The 10th edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup will follow the 32-team format used in Australia and New Wealand in 2023, where Spain were crowned champions and Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz made history by advancing to the round of 16.

The dates have yet to be fully confirmed, but FIFA has set aside space for the tournament between May 25 and 31 and July 2027.
