Woman separated during Brazil floods reunites with dog in emotional video

A woman couldn’t hold back her tears as she was reunited with her dog after they were separated during Brazil’s devastating floods. Heavy rains, which have battered Brazil’s Rio Grande do Sul state since late April, caused historic flooding that killed more than 150 people and inundated hundreds of towns.

In an emotional video, which has since been made available online by Good News Movement, the woman was taken to a specific spot on a boat navigated by the rescue team. She waited with bated breath and was ecstatic to see her furry friend from a distance.

Once on site, the dog was brought onto the boat with the help of an official, and the scenario that then unfolded will make you cry tears of joy.

Hugs and cuddles followed as the woman and her furry friend were reunited in a heartwarming moment.

“EMOTIONAL REUNION: Woman finally reunited with her missing dog after they were separated during Brazil’s devastating floods. Heavy rains that caused widespread flooding in the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul last week left hundreds of towns inundated. Rescue and recovery efforts are still ongoing,” reads the caption of the post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on May 17.

The floods have destroyed highways and bridges in Rio Grande do Sul, which borders Uruguay and Argentina.

Nearly 100 residents remain missing and more than 500,000 have been displaced, official data shows, Reuters reports.

Eduardo Leite, governor of Rio Grande do Sul, said on Friday that the cost of rebuilding the state after the floods would be “much higher” than the initially estimated 19 billion reais ($3.72 billion).
