MARYLAND, United States – Excelsior High School’s Richard Hall and St Jago High’s Briana Campbell put in impressive performances in challenging conditions, taking victory in the boys’ 110 meters hurdles and girls’ 100 meters respectively at the East Coast International Showcase athletics championships on Saturday.

Considering the cold and rainy weather, Hall, who recorded a personal best of 13.50 seconds at the event, was pleased with his performance.

“It was a pretty good performance from me there… I’m very pleased with the time based on the weather conditions here as it was very cold and I’m not used to running in this kind of weather,” Hall said.

“The race was very challenging because the other competitor was on my shoulder the whole way and, as you could see, it was a very close finish at the end and so I am happy that I came out on top in this event,” he said. said.

Hall emphasized that the win significantly boosts his confidence ahead of the National Championships in June. “This is a huge confidence booster as it shows I will be in top form when I take part in the national trial,” he said.

“It’s a really good feeling to come here and win because I wrongly started the ISSA Girls’ Championships in the final of this event and so that was a disappointment for me, and so to come here (and to win), I am very grateful to God,” she said.
